Last Thursday, I won a satellite to the Foxwoods Poker Classic
$10,000 main event. I'll be playing in it this Thursday, and (I hope) Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
If you're interested in buying a share of me (understanding that there's roughly a nine out of ten chance that you will get nothing in return), send me email at four dot five at pobox dot com

with my first and last names.
Foxwoods is having a poker tournament this Thursday with a $10,000 entry fee. Since lots of people, including me, would like to play in this, but don't want to put $10,000 at risk, they have smaller, "satellite tournaments" in the weeks leading up to the tournament. These have much smaller entry fees, and have as their prizes entries into the $10,000 event. I played and won one of those last Thursday.
So in some sense, I won $10,000 last Thursday. But I'm not allowed to take it in cash. 90% of the time, what will happen is that I will lose $10,000 next Thursday, or next Thursday and Friday.
But with 300 to 600 people entered in this tournament, there's a lot of prize money. Finishing in the top ten percent of the field will win me eleven or twelve thousand. Making it to the final table will win me something in six figures. The prize for first place will probably be in seven figures.
I assume anyone reading this far is rooting for me to win the tournament. If you'd like to have a monetary interest as well as a rooting interest, you can buy a share of my profits. So if you give me $100, you own 1% of my profits, and net a $10 or $20 profit if I finish 40th or 30th, a thousand or two if I make it to the final table, and ten thousand or more if I win the tournament. But there's a ninety percent chance you'll end up with nothing, so don't back me if you're not comfortable with the (very likely) downside.
