Job offer!

slanty, martha
I just accepted an offer to start work at ITA Software on February 2nd. I'm excited about this; lots of my friends are there, and they are all enthusiastic about what a great place it is to work.

So if you want to do something together during the day on a weekday, there are three weeks left when that's possible. Anyone interested in a downhill skiing day trip or overnight on a weekday?

Congratulations! I've heard really good things about ITA being a great place to work, too.

I'm curious about the start date -- most of my experience has been "when can you start?" although I am pretty sure if I'd wanted to take some time off between my last job and this one (9 years ago) they wouldn't have cared.

Well, given that I interviewed months ago, and the offer was delayed by a hiring freeze, it's reasonable for them not to expect me to start the instant the freeze thaws and they make me an offer. They said "any time before February 1". I pointed out that February 1 was a Sunday, and they extended the offer to let me start February 2.

Hey, it's great that you get a little bit of time off that you can enjoy, as opposed to time off that's "eek, I'm STILL unemployed, dammit"!

Have fun!

Sure! And Utah is a great place to alpine ski! :)

Congrats on the new job. I'm really glad to hear it, and I'm sure that's a load off your mind.

Wanna go to Blue Hills with me this Friday in the morning? (It depends on my successfully purchasing ski boots or a whole set of new equip. tomorrow, though. I rented last time but now that I know my knee is not permanently trashed, I want to buy before I next ski locally.) Note: It will be in the single digits. Possibly the negative single digits. Dress accordingly. But maybe you think Blue Hills is beneath you. It having just the one run and all.
